SHILLONG: The North Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) on Wednesday demanded immediate termination of the professor who had allegedly sexually harassed a woman research scholar.
In a memorandum submitted to the Vice Chancellor’s office on Wednesday, NEHUSU leaders sought punishment for Prof. F.A. Qadri, who is the Dean of School of Social Sciences, and also asked the university to have zero tolerance towards sexual harassment.
The students protested in the central library and took out a rally on the university campus. The Union members wanted to meet the Vice Chancellor but he was out of station.
NEHUSU members said the matter has been taken up by the women cell in the university and it will submit its recommendations in a couple of days to enable the University administration to take appropriate action.
