TURA: Over half of South West Garo Hills District that has been reeling from power cuts for the last one week after the main transformer was damaged is expected to get respite only by Monday.
A top official in the Power Department in Garo Hills informed that temporary arrangements are being made to transport another transformer from Nongpoh in Ri-Bhoi district to Mahendraganj.“The 5-MVA transformer with a feeder capacity is already on the road and is expected to arrive by Saturday. If everything works out, we expect power to be restored either on Sunday or latest by Monday,” said the official, adding that the damaged transformer had a capacity of only 3.15 MVA.
