SHILLONG: Opposition Leader Donkupar Roy has dared the ‘rebel’ Congress legislators to come out openly if they want to effect a change of leadership or else to express their allegiance to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to end the episode of uncertainty in the state politics.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Roy said there should be an end to uncertainty in the wake of the no-confidence against the Congress-led government as well as the Speaker.
“I want this drama to end, let them (those opposing the chief minister) express their wish openly,” said the former chief minister.
According to Roy, there are reports that some legislators within the Congress might side with the Opposition to overthrow the current government.
“Whatever be the support and intentions we hope this should be the last attempt, and if the Chief Minister wants to remain, let it be, but if the     opponents feel that there is a need for change, let them express it openly and solve the matter so that everything is clear,” Roy said.
The UDP leader said the intention of the pro and anti-regime should be that the government functions properly in the long run.
