SHILLONG: After the nine-month delay in declaring results of the Diploma of Elementary Education (D.EL.ED), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is facing more allegations.
Teachers from East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi and West Khasi Hills said on Friday the results announced by NIOS on September 9 were incomplete. Speaking to media persons here, J.J Lyngdoh, a teacher, said the results did not include internal markings.
Also, a few candidates were marked ‘absent’ against subjects that they appeared for.
Lyngdoh also alleged that there were discrepancies in the D.EL.ED results as a section of the teachers scored full marks. The aggrieved teachers threatened with protests if the discrepancies were not rectified.
Lyngdoh said the deputy director of NIOS, under pressure from the teachers, on September 14 had sought 10 days’ time to rectify the anomalies.
“The 14 days will expire on Monday. If the errors are not rectified, the teachers will stage a black-flag protest in front of the DERT office in Shillong,” he added.
NIOS announced the results for the 2013-2014 batch of around 4,800 teachers on September 9 instead of last December owing to the delay in submitting internal marks by the study centres, an RTI reply had stated earlier this month.
