IFAD nod to Rs 350 cr advance loan for NE project

SHILLONG: The International Fund for Agricultural Development has agreed to an advance loan of Rs 350 crore for expansion of the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) to other states of the North East.
This was informed by North Eastern Council (NEC) Secretary Ram Muivah at the inaugural function of the 8th NEAT Fest here on Tuesday.
Muivah said the project has transformed the lives of 1.18 lakh families in four states of the North East where it is being implemented.
Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, while addressing the gathering, said the North East has tremendous potential in terms of natural and human resources and that the NEAT fest needs to be organised more regularly in other parts of the state.
Altogether 34 stalls have been set up in the ongoing fest, which will conclude on October 7.
On the occasion, the students of Jyoti Sroat School performed a few songs much to the delight of everyone present. Earlier, the Chief Justice visited several stalls and bought various products.
