Villagers seek Lapang’s intervention

NONGPOH: The deplorable condition of the PMGSY road from Umkon-Umshaken to Mawphru in Ri Bhoi has brought about a lot of inconvenience to the people of the area, especially those in need of immediate medical attention.
Locals residing along the stretch have to travel to Nongpoh Civil Hospital in any case of an emergency and the pathetic road condition, which worsens during the rainy season due to frequent landslides, poses a frequent threat to the travelers.
The 5 km stretch from Umkon-Umshaken to Mawphru was sanctioned under PMGSY scheme in 2007 and slated for completion in 2012.
Taking note of the current situation the villagers of Mawphru sought the intervention of local MLA DD Lapang into the matter. They also urged the concerned department to take up the matter with the contractor for early completion of the project.
