NEW DELHI: While demand for talent dropped by 8 per cent all over the country last month with hiring activity losing pace across key sectors, the Hill State of Meghalaya witnessed significant rise in hiring activity even though major employment hubs faced a slowdown, said a report.
Meghalaya witnessed a 22 per cent rise while Manipur posted a 9 per cent growth during September this year, TimesJobs RecruiteX said. This is the first time since January 2016 that these states have grown at these rates.
While there has been no dearth of quality professionals coming from North East India, employability within the region has been a tough challenge, an analysis of the report said. With the government’s entrepreneurial promotion policies and other efforts in job creation, industries are overcoming these hurdles, it added.  The report said media, entertainment and journalism professionals reported three per cent rise in demand in September. IT and telecom professionals reported six per cent drop and business management and consultants saw 20 per cent drop, the report said.
