NPP concerned over rising influx in NGH

SHILLONG: The National People’s Party has expressed concern over reports of growing influx in parts of North Garo Hills.
NPP’s Rupert Momin said that there are a number of vulnerable areas that need to be looked into to ensure that there is no influx of illegal immigrants. He added that several families from outside who have settled in the Mendipathar bazaar area are now slowly moving out to the surrounding areas.
Momin said that another vulnerable area was Adokgre at the extreme border of North Garo Hills. “The area is vulnerable because as non-indigenous people enter North Garo Hills through it,” he said adding that places like Kharkutta, Dainadubi and Resubelpara are also vulnerable to influx   as these places are connected by the National Highways and there are no any check points along the roads.
