Nongpoh: Jirang Constituency with its headquarters at Patharkhmah in western Ri Bhoi is one of the most backward areas in the State in terms of development. The people of this area face a lot of inconvenience due to the pathetic road condition and lack of proper health care facilities.
Despite the tag of being an administrative unit of Ri Bhoi, development seems to be a distant dream for people of the area which has been allegedly neglected by the government and even the local representatives.
One of the aggrieved citizens of the area, Comfort Doloi alleged that the government-run CHC at Patharkhmah does not cater to the needs of the local residents, and added that the health centre faced shortage of doctors. “Instead of six doctors, the CHC has three which includes one MBBS, an Ayush doctor and a dentist,” Doloi said.
“The people of this constituency, especially those from remote villages, are facing great difficulties as even minor cases have to be transferred to Nongpoh Civil Hospital,” Doloi lamented, even as he informed that the Patharkhmah CHC was running without an X-ray machine.
He urged the government and local representatives to look into the difficulties faced by the people and find solutions at the earliest.
