SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Editors’ and Publishers’ Association (MEPA) has condemned the burning of a press vehicle belonging to Khasi vernacular daily, Kynjatshai, at Riatsamthiah at around 3.30 am on Wednesday by unknown miscreants.
In a statement issued here, the MEPA while expressing shock over the incident said that such criminal act perpetrated by miscreants and disgruntled elements without any rhyme or reason needs to be condemned.
MEPA also appealed to those responsible to desist from such acts in future. It also called upon the culprits not to recourse to such acts but to approach the owners of the press vehicle in an appropriate manner to settle whatever grievances, if they have any, in an amicable manner. The Shillong Press Club also condemned the criminal act of burning the press vehicle. The SPC urged the police to arrest the culprits immediately.
