Shillong Press Club condemns media car vandalism
SHILLONG: The Shillong Press Club (SPC) has expressed its dismay and strong concern over the unprovoked act of vandalism perpetrated by unknown miscreants on the official vehicle of the daily vernacular paper Kynjatshai on November 23 in the city. The Club also resolved to request the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District to expedite inquiry into the incident and punish the responsible as per law.
Theft
Madon Chandra Das lodged a complaint that on November 22 between 10 am and 4.30 pm, unknown miscreant(s) broke into his house at Asom Kristi Kendra, Dhankheti, and stole brass articles and other valuable materials. In another incident, Kenzy Eden Mortan K Marak lodged a complaint that on the night of November 19, unknown miscreant(s) broke into his bar at Sukbhir Bhavan, Tura (WGH) and stole one LCD TV valued around Rs. 40,000/- and one Home Theatre valued around Rs. 12,000/-.
Assault
Brindro K Sangma of Tilapara village, Mendipathar (NGH) lodged a complaint that on November. 21 around 7 pm, one Bablu Kalita indecently abused his in-laws, attempted to attack them with a ‘khukri’ and damaged their property.
Rape
One woman lodged a complaint that on November 21, around 7.30 pm, one Balajied Rympei, 24, attempted to rape her thirteen year old daughter in his residence at Madanrting. Police have arrested the accused.
Fraud
Jotin Kongjengbam lodged a complaint that on November 13, unknown person(s) fraudulently withdrew Rs. 48,000/- from his account at UCO Bank, Laitumkhrah.
Cyber crime
West Shillong MLA, Paul Lyngdoh has filed a police complaint against one Facebook user identified as Michael Pakyntein for dragging his name in the social website in a provocative and defamatory manner.
Body found
On November 6, at about 9:15am, the body of an unknown male aged about 40 years with a swarthy complexion was found lying outside the charcoal shop at Laitumkhrah Bazaar parking lot. After an inquest and other formalities were observed, the body was forwarded to SDM&HO Civil Hospital, Shillong for a post mortem examination.
