SHILLONG: The Department of Mass Media, St Anthony’s College, organized a photo exhibition cum sale titled, “Stitched- A Tapestry of Culture” at the College conference hall on Wednesday.
The exhibition attempted to assimilate the varied concepts of culture as captured by the students of the College’s Mass Media department.
Minister Information and Public Relations, Ampareen Lyngdoh, who inaugurated the programme, urged students to explore and document different aspects of Meghalaya, beyond its natural beauty.
With the core of the photo exhibition being local culture, some of the photographs on display included those depicting music, religion and beliefs, Khasi folktale of betel-nut, betel-leaf and tobacco, pictures that showcase traditional hearth and cuisine, people’s varied expressions ranging from the young children to old folks etc.
Popular traditional games and amusements like Marehdiengdang in which people use bamboo stilts for a sprint and sitnup (a popular game among the cattle herders of Ri-Bhoi were also captured by the students).
