FIR filed against PHE Accounts Officer for demanding bribe
The Finance (Establishment) Dept has filed an FIR against Accounts Officer, Office of Executive Engineer, Water Resources Division, PHE, Baghmara for demanding cash from contractors for clearing their bills. Police said that J Wanswet, Deputy Secretary, Finance (Establishment) Department lodged a complaint that based on a report submitted by CID/ACB, Meghalaya, she was directed to file an FIR against one Daniel N Sangma, Accounts Officer, Office of Executive Engineer, Water Resources Division, PHE, Baghmara (SGH), that the officer was demanding cash from contractors for clearing their bills.
Five arrested for creating ruckus, making threat
Police has arrested five persons for causing disturbance after organising a party at Laitumkhrah, Shillong. Coming One Ymbon lodged a complaint that on December 6 at about 10.30 pm, one of his tenant, Anggu Chungadim organised a party causing disturbance at Bhagyakul, Laitumkhrah. When the caretaker asked him to stop shouting, the accused assaulted him and also threatened to set the house on fire. In this connection, Police arrested Khagaulun Lhungdim (19), Daniel Suantak, Khaineo Lhungdim (21), Bebel Lhungdim and Lalchung Lhouvum (20).
Case filed against drunk driver
Police has taken up a case against a person for driving under the influence of liquor and dashed Traffic Police personnel. Police said that the incident happened on Thursday evening when one Vehicle (ML 05 K 9239) (Local Taxi) driven by Bankit Synrem, of Malki, Pdengshnong, Shillong dashed against one Traffic Police personnel Andrush G. Momin of Sadar Traffic Branch who was performing his duty at General’s Point. Both the police personnel and the driver were taken to Civil Hospital, Shillong for medical treatment and examination and Medical Officer opined that the driver of the Local Taxi, Bankit Synrem, was under influence of alcohol. In this connection a regular case has been registered against the erring driver for rash driving in a public way and from endangering the life and personal safety of others.
