Passive district council department has no info on poll status

SHILLONG: The district council affairs department, which is conducting the by polls is yet to be actively involved in providing adequate information to the media.
Compared to the past when the officials of the district council affairs department were proactive, the officials of the department expressed their inability to provide information with regard to the by polls.
There was no specific information on the number of polling officials deputed for the polls, EVMs and also on the nature of polling stations.
On Monday when media persons approached the district council department officials, their reply was that there was no internet connection to get data from the concerned returning officers since it was a holiday.
There was no response from the officials when media persons asked them to get the data over the phone.
