TURA: The All Guwahati A’chik Students Association (AGASA) held its 7th freshman social 2011 at the district library auditorium in Guwahati, Assam on Wednesday.
The meet was graced by Leader of the Opposition in Meghalaya Assembly Conrad K Sangma as the chief guest, Ms Sahira K Sangma, Regional Provident Fund Commisioner, Guwahati and Ebline A Marak, Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati as guests of honour. Other dignitaries who attended the programme were Roger Benny A Sangma, former president Delhi A’chik Youth Association and Dr. Kobita N Sangma, Resident Medical Officer, NEMCARE Hospital.
The programme began with the A’chik patriotic song Ang’ atchiram a’songtang Garo Hills, sung by Abeth Momin and friends, and a welcome note and short introduction of AGASA delivered by its president Saljagringrang R Marak. The programme was graced by Pastor Salnang N Sangma with Invocation and prayers for the freshers.
The day’s various events included an informal session and a freshers’ contest. In the contest Tinabel Ch. Marak was adjudged Miss Fresher and Summinster R. Marak Mr Fresher. A traditional dinner showcasing mouth watering Garo cuisine was a major attraction.
