SHILLONG: Young and budding dancers of Shillong witnessed Saddam Hussain of Dance India Dance fame perform at the U Soso Tham Auditorium here on Thursday.
Hussain, who rose to fame in the 5th edition of D.I.D, (a dance reality show) was in the city to judge a dance competition organised by the Master of Beat Dance Academy.
Speaking at the workshop, Hussain said that the stage is a temple and a mosque to the dancer.
“Never say to people that I am a contemporary or a classical dancer, but call yourself just a dancer,” he said.
According to Hussain, “dance is a small world” and all dancers should respect their competitors. “Dancers are Gods, they can make people laugh or cry,” he added.
West Shillong MLA Paul Lyngdoh, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that dance is a form of poetry and urged dancers to inspire more youngsters to take up the art.
He also announced that he would contribute some fund for the academy to help it meet its requirements.
