SHILLONG: Police have assured that action would be taken as per the law against all individuals who were involved in the trafficking of a minor girl. The case also involves Marvelene’s Inn in Rilbong that is owned by Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh’s family.
Five persons, including three pimps, have been arrested so far in the case.
Based on the statement of the 14-year-old girl, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has filed several FIRs and even Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang has been named in one of the FIRs though he has denied the allegations terming it as political vendetta.
Building up the case,

Police said on Wednesday that they are building up evidence against the MLA and if all the allegations are found to be true during the course of the investigation, law will take its own course.
Senior police officials said it is a heinous crime and police would take action as per the law of the land.
Jhalupara body clarifies on rape accused
Meanwhile, the Jhalupara Village Council on Wednesday said that Madan Bahadur Thapa, the main accused involved in the alleged rape of minor girl at Marvelene’s Inn in Rilbong was not a resident of Jhalupara.
Earlier, police had in a statement claimed that 22-year-old Thapa, who surrendered before police at Madanrting, was from Jhalupara. However, in a statement issued here, the Jhalupara Village Council said that it had enquired about the actual residence of Thapa and found that he was not from the locality.
