Murder
On January 10 at about 10.20 PM, two persons, viz., Hunlangki A. Thabah (21) and Stobarius Kurbah (20) hacked Edwin Lyngdoh Mawphlang (33) with an axe at Iewduh, Shillong. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to NEIGRIHMS, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police arrested the accused.
20-yr-old killed
Siljrak Momin lodged a complaint that on January 6, unknown miscreant(s) abducted and murdered one Deva Momin (20) at Gongdop (EGH).
Dowry demand
Shibani Biswas of Hawakhana, Tura (WGH) lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that her husband viz., Nitai Chandra Das tortured her mentally and physically and demanded dowry while they were in Delhi.
Abduction
One January 5 one Sanjay Das lodged a complaint that on December 18, two persons, viz., Riyajul Islam and Sofiqul Haque abducted his daughter (16) from Rajabala (WGH) with an intention to convert her to Islam.
Theft
One Johny Sorak Khaibam lodged a complaint that on January 9, he found that unknown miscreant(s) have stolen seven cell-phones from his shop at Nongmynsong Bazar, Shillong.
On January 9 at about 6.30 AM, two persons, viz., Vijay Chettri (27) and Manoj Kumar Yadav stole one TV set from the residence of Amika Shrestha at Lukier Road, Shillong. Police arrested the accused persons.
On January 8 at about 12.15 PM, unknown miscreant(s) broke into the shop of Belinda Shadap at Nongthymmai, Shillong and stole cigarette valued around Rs. 648.
One Bablu Barman lodged a complaint that on January 5 and 8, one Rupak Das stole cash Rs. 8000 and 10000 respectively from his shop M/s Sujata Decorator at Bivar Road, Shillong.
Cattle stolen
On the night of January 9, unknown miscreant(s) stole three cattle belonging to Dobritri Rabha from Kanchonkona (WGH).
One arrested
On January 9, Police arrested one Truilson Ch Marak (51) from Khaldang Rongret village under Resubelpara PS (NGH) for manufacturing illegal firearms. Police also seized one country-made gun, six empty country-made ammunition cases and eleven pieces of iron pipes from his house.
Accidents
On January 8 at about 6.40 PM, one Maruti van (ML-05M-1431) driven by Sanjeev Singha (25) dashed against one motorcycle (ML-05E-1236) ridden by Allen Mawlong (25) at Anjali point, Shillong. As a result, the motorcycle rider sustained injuries and was removed to CH Shillong.
On December 13at about 5.28 PM, one Maruti van Ambulance (ML-05C-9562) dashed against one vehicle (ML-05M-2006) belonging to Dafina L. Lyngdoh Buam at Nongmynsong, Shillong
On January 7, one motorcycle (AS-01BX-2115) ridden by Arup Kalita (23) dashed against one Maruti Alto car (AS-23G-6191) near Sohra (EKH). As a result, the motorcycle rider sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong.
Encroachment
J.D Shira, EE, PWD (Roads), Tura lodged a complaint that one Arthur Marak of Najing Bazar, New Tura (WGH) has illegally encroached and constructed a fencing wall along the Walbakgre-Ballonggre, PWD Road (WGH), without any prior permission from the Department.
