NONGPOH: Rajya Sabha member K.T.S Tulsi and four other MPs visited Nongbah-Myrdon village in Ri Bhoi that was adopted under the Centre’s Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana on Saturday.
Tulsi adopted the remote village in 2014 for developing it as a ‘model village’ under the central scheme that was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The MP was happy with the implementation of various government schemes at Nongbah-Myrdon. He also said the village maintained transparency and smoothly implemented the various government schemes.
The village has got funds to build bio-digesters, a solid and liquid waste management centre, a community hall, besides other development works as funded under the scheme.
When asked about the poor condition of the connecting road in the adopted village, Tulsi said he has taken up the problem with the Ministry of Rural Development that has promised blacktopped roads soon.
Meanwhile, Tulsi praised the youths of the region and said the youngsters here are talented and they should not consider themselves inferior to people in other parts of the country.
A Rs 9.5-crore rural technology park has been sanctioned for the village.
The four MPs who accompanied Tulsi were C.P Thakur, Joy Abraham, Santiuse Kujur, and Ram Kumar Kashyap. They are also members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Papers Presented on Table.
