WKH bridge damage in fire estimated at Rs 30,000

SHILLONG: The estimated damage caused by the burning of the wooden bridge at Risiang in West Khasi Hills is Rs 30,000, said PWD Assistant Executive Engineer in Nongstoin.
Pyndemlin Gatphoh in his complaint said the incident happened on January 13 around 7 pm. In the incident, twenty decks were gutted and loss of property is around Rs 30,000.  The bridge on Nongstoin-Dawgiri Road was set ablaze by a group angry truckers when the coal-laden vehicles were stopped from plying on the bridge that was declared weak by the PWD.
