SHILLONG: UDP MDC HS Shylla has taken a dig at KHADC CEM PN Syiem, this time by saying that his lawyers are inefficient in dealing with building rules of the State Government.
Referring to the ruling of the High Court on Meghalaya Building Bye Laws, Shylla said the KHADC did not move any petition before the proper forum challenging the building rules framed by the State.
The Court in its recent order had stated -“However, serious and significant question have now been raised on behalf of the KHADC essentially with the submissions that the Building Bye Laws as framed by MUDA cannot be made applicable over the autonomous district areas. Though these issues ought to have been raised by KHADC in the appropriate forum and in the appropriate manner but they have been raised only by way of a counter affidavit in this petition.”
Shylla said that the KHADC should approach the Supreme Court which is the appropriate forum as stated by the Division Bench of the High Court of Meghalaya.
He added that villages that are under MUDA Building Laws should appeal to the Apex Court and should not rely on the EC of Syiem. Shylla said public meetings should be held in villages affected by the MUDA Building Laws- Madanriting, Laitkor, Umphyrnai and others, on whether there is a need to approach the SC.
