Speaker for more Phulbari villages under border devp schemes

SHILLONG: Assembly Speaker A.T Mondal on Monday wanted Border Area Development Minister Prestone Tynsong to include some villages near the border in the former’ s constituency and extend the various development schemes.
During the question hour, the matter related to development schemes in the border area was raised by HSPDP legislator Witting Mawsor.
The Speaker said the minister can examine the need to extend the border area schemes to Selsella, Rajabala and Phulbari areas in Garo Hills.
In reply, the Minister said if the villages fall within 20 km of the inter-state and the international borders, they will be considered for the scheme.
Opposition Leader Donkupar Roy also raised the need to include some villages under his constituency as per the scheme.
Earlier, answering a supplementary question by Mawsor, Tynsong said the department had notified the system of implementation of border villages on the basis of population and it is not that more schemes are given to Pynursla and Garo Hills.
To another supplementary question, the minister said he is not aware of any eligible village being left out from the border area scheme as villages were included as per norms.
HSPDP legislator K.P Pangniang also wanted the minister to include several villages under his constituency under his scheme.
