SHILLONG: The KHNAM youth wing has flayed the state government for organising a music night and other entertainment programmes at Polo Grounds to observe the International Women’s Day, at a time when the state is witnessing a rise in crimes against women.
Thomas Passah, president of the party youth wing expressed dismay at the ongoing Assembly session and wondered if the legislators will put their heads together to find ways and means to make women more secure in the state.
Referring to various festivals organised in the state, Passah said, “We strongly criticise the state government for not providing adequate security to women and children.”
Stating that lot of women are victims of cyber crime which is against the IT Act, 2000, he said, “The International Women’s Day should not be a day of mere celebration, but should be meant to condemn and ponder over the growing cases of crimes against the fair sex.
