SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said on Monday the setting up of entry and exit points to check influx is in progress.
In reply to a question by HSPDP’s Ardent Basaiawmoit, the chief minister said in the Assembly that the government is moving ahead with the initiative and there was some progress.
“Land compensation for the entry and exit points was assessed and the funds were also released,” he added. Sangma said in the past, there was delay in the acquisition of land due to the central land acquisition act of 2013, which has been pending for long.
As far as other measures to check influx, the chief minister said the Government had constituted district task forces with respective deputy commissioners as chairpersons and SPs as vice chairpersons in all the 11 districts of the State.
The government also posted labour inspectors in all the 39 blocks.
Moreover, framing of rules under the Meghalaya (Benami Transaction Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016, and the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2016, are under process, the chief minister said.
