Umsning by-pass project making smooth progress

SHILLONG: The Umsning by-pass project is making steady progress with almost 40 per cent of the work being complete.
Informing this here on Tuesday, sources said that the bypass which falls in the Umiam-Jorabat expressway is scheduled to be completed by June. The Government had initially intended to construct the road on the existing alignment from Umsning town but the idea was vehemently opposed by local pressure groups forcing the change.
