SHILLONG: Damage to cables during laying of pipes or construction of roads is a major cause of disruption in connectivity as far as BSNL is concerned.
Informing this here on Friday, P.G Nirmal, ITS, general manager-Meghalaya, told reporters that BSNL is in touch with the State Government to fix the problem.
“Officials have been meeting NHAI, PWD and trying to restore connectivity,” he said.
Nirmal added that the public sector enterprise will expand its coverage to cater to more customers with an aim to serve them better. On the breakdown of internet service through landline, he said, “We have observed that data flow is going up as of now, which means that the service quality is good as per the parameters we assessed.”
To improve its services, BSNL plans to upgrade with MNG technology and will introduce Packet Access Network (PAN) to manage broadband service to landline to ensure speed and quality.
For new requirements of landline/broadband/FTTH, BSNL Meghalaya has provided a missed call service wherein the customers need to give a missed call to 9485145678.
Using the same number, the public can speak to the general manager, BSNL, Meghalaya on Wednesdays between 3 pm and 4 pm.
