SHILLONG: Congress legislator P.N Syiem once again asked the Government on Friday to address his confusion over the actual royalty on minerals payable to the KHADC and the amount that has been released so far.
Moving a zero hour notice in the Assembly, Syiem said on March 23, the reply of District Council Affairs Minister Prestone Tynsong on the matter had created confusion.
He pointed out that for 2015-16, the KHADC received only Rs 5 crore as share of royalty whereas the KHADC was supposed to get over Rs 57 crore and the balance is over Rs 52 crore.
In reply, Tynsong said there was delay in assessing the royalty after the ban on coal mining in Meghalaya.
He added that outstanding dues, if any, is carried over to the next financial year and the dues, if not shared on that financial year may be due to shortage of budget provision, could be adjusted in the succeeding financial year.
