Liquor smuggler arrested in SWGH

SHILLONG: The Border Security Force has apprehended a 60-year-old liquor smuggler and stopped a cattle smuggling bid in separate incidents.
The smuggler, identified as Abdul Sheikh, is a resident of Nandichar in South West Garo Hills.
He revealed that he crossed the border on March 24 along with 12 bottles of liquor and was returning after handing over the consignment to a Bangladeshi smuggler at Rahimpur in Bangladesh’s Jamalpur district, said a BSF press statement.
In another incident the BSF troops deployed at Bagli South West Khasi Hills district, have seized 86 cattle worth Rs 11.7 lakh.
The BSF also said in his communiqué that it had seized 150 cattle, 499 liquor bottles and contraband worth Rs 3 lakh.
