SHILLONG: KHADC CEM P.N. Syiem will write to DMR (Directorate of Mineral Resources), Finance and the Planning departments over the discrepancy in providing the actual details of royalty share of major minerals with the state government.
When contacted, Syiem said that he will write to these departments as the actual details reflected in the Detailed Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the year 2017-18 is different from the details provided to the Council.
“We have to be clear as there is discrepancy,” Syiem said on Sunday.
Syiem irked at the discrepancy as the actual pending share of the state government to the District Council over the share of coal and limestone is Rs 277 crore and not Rs 36 crore (Rs 36,42,46,169).
According to Syiem, the actual royalty amount to be paid by the State government to KHADC is Rs over 277 crore (Rs 2,774,789,674) for the financial year 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16.
In this connection, the KHADC Chief has threatened to approach the Court to address the alleged discrepancy.
It may be mentioned that the share on coal is 25 per cent to the Council and 75 per cent to the state government, whereas for limestone, the share of Council is 60 per cent and state government is 40 per cent.
