TURA: The A’chik Youth Council (AYC) has expressed strong resentment against the decision of Tura DC to forcibly evict three families of government employees from their staff quarters allegedly within 24 hours of notice being served.
The families of three grade IV staff of the Tura DC office were served with an eviction notice by Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi and asked to vacate their quarters so that it could be dismantled and make way for construction of a permanent sessions court.
The families of staffers Wasan M Sangma, Noven N Marak and Manseng M Sangma have been residing in quarters located in the old jail complex adjacent to the DC office premises.
The eviction order had been passed by the sessions judge of WGH reportedly on Monday to make way for a new court house.
“Our disapproval is over the way the DC hurriedly pushed for the families eviction at such short notice,” said the AYC. According to the AYC two girls from the evicted families are appearing this year’s Class 12 finals while a boy will be writing his degree exams. “One of the family members is also pregnant. You can understand their plight.”
