Former gaonbura ‘running ghost schools’

TURA: The former gaonbura of Kamarpara, Bahadurkat and Kukurmua Part II and his brother have been allegedly running ghost schools for the past few years.
Ziarul Islam has been allegedly running Konarghati SSA UP School as headmaster and secretary. Locals said there was no village by the name Konarghati.
Islam’s brother, Ranjan Miah, was the headmaster and secretary of another fake school by the name Konarghati Ad Hoc LP School.  Islam has also allegedly promised the villagers of Kamarpara, Bahadurkat and Kukurmua Part II to give corrugated galvanised iron sheets and other benefits under the MCA schemes.
“These facts clearly reveal the true character of the gaonbura. Let the authority inquire and take action against him,” said a local.
The cases against the present as well as the former gaonburas are getting murkier with the new allegations of fake schools.
Earlier, the present gaonbura, Shahjahan Miah, had lodged a complaint against Islam with fake signatures of 21 villagers for which an FIR was lodged against him. He had denied the allegations.
Shahjahan had produced documents to the GHADC that showed that the first complaint was filed by Nur Mahamad and others on November 17, 2015, alleging Islam of “inefficiency and partiality”.
Subsequently, the GHADC deputed Mouza Assistant Goodfraison A. Sangma and revenue collector Osok Sangma to conduct a spot inquiry and submit a detailed report.
Later, the GHADC summoned both the parties on October 20, 2016.
