SHILLONG: The The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Malki circle organised a felicitation ceremony for Dr David Syiemlieh for his achievement as Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The programme was attended by Rangbah Shnong H. P. Offlyne Dohling and all the representatives of Dorbar Shong Malki, Seng Samla Dong, Seng Samla Shnong Malki Pyllun, Seng Longkmie and others.
HYC honoured Syiemlieh with a Khasi traditional shawl and a memento was presented by the Seng Samla Malki.
Franky Kharumniud, HYC president, said, “I am really proud of the Clan Syiemlieh as it have brought forth legendary freedom fighter “U Tirot Sing” and acade-mician Dr David Syiemlieh.”
Speaking at the event, Dr Syiemlieh, who is also a historian, recalled his difficult childhood days and said that he is not after material aspect in life. The UPSC chairman thanked everyone for being an inspiration for him.
