SHILLONG: General Secretary of Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) Evangelynn Thabah has said the members of the orgnisation do not have any objection to Agnes Kharshiing being the president and supports her working in the interest of the public.
In a press release issued on Monday, Thabah said the statement was issued to clarify all the allegations being circulated through the media “by some who are no longer members of the CSWO”.
“It is unfortunate that the magistrates conducting the inquiry from 2011 could not come to any conclusion on the status of CSWO as documents submitted by the organisation were hidden by a clerk of the DC office looking after files related with Joint Registrar of Societies. It is only when we went to the DC office did we find the documents hidden in an almirah and reported the matter to the next magistrate entrusted with the new inquiry. Having a thought for the person who was due for retirement, Agnes did not want to file the FIR against him. It is a fact that there are some in the Government who wants to destabilise Agnes and her work,” the statement said.
CSWO members reiterated their support for Agnes and the records are “with the Government as affidavits were also sworn in this regard as ordered by the magistrate conducting the inquiry into CSWO, which should have been taken into consideration”.
