SHILLONG: To deal with the growing LPG connections in the Shillong West Constituency, MLA, Paul Lyngdoh has sought for redistribution of LPG connections to other gas agencies to ease the burden on a single gas distributing agency.
He had convened a meeting of 10 Dorbar Shnong of Shillong West Constituency regarding different issues.Speaking on the shortage of LPG, Lyngdoh said that one of the gas distribution agencies, Khasi-Pnar Gas agency is overburdened and the number of connections has exceeded their ability to provide LPG to families.
“In the presence of DC (supply), we have resolved that 3000 numbers of connections will be re-distributed MECOFED and Meghalaya Gas Agency to lighten the load of Khasi-Pnar Gas agency,” he said.
The DC of East Khasi Hills, P.S. Dkhar was also present at the meeting who assured the delegation that a meeting will be convened over the redistribution of customers.
“The commitment of the Union Government to provide one gas cylinder per month will be materialised. Till December, the people in these areas are getting only six gas cylinders that is, one gas cylinder for two months which is against the guidelines of the Center,” he said. With regard to the disarray in the distribution of ration card as per the National Food Security Act (NFSA), he stated that there are some beneficiaries who are left out from the list.
The DC has assured that form for fresh claims will be given to various Dorbar Shnong and a review meeting will be held accordingly.
