Training centres likely for ASHAs

SHILLONG: The Health Department has proposed to set up training centres in districts for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) with an aim to improve rural healthcare. Health Minister Roshan Warjri, who was addressing a gathering at a district-level workshop cum training programme for ASHAs at U Soso Tham auditorium on Thursday, said, “The State Government has formulated a proposal which will be sent to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.”
Later, sources from the Health Department told The Shillong Times that it has sent a proposal for setting up training centres in phases in West Garo Hills and East Khasi Hills under the Programme Implementation Plan 2017-18 of the National Health Mission.
