NEW DELHI: Shillong MP Vincent H. Pala and the chief executive member of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) on Wednesday urged the DoNER Ministry to fast track the construction of the Iawmusiang Market Complex in West Jaintia Hills.
The project has been delayed for more than a decade.
Pala, chief executive member T. Shiwat and EM (Finance) J.R Pyrtuh told the DoNER secretary that the NLCPR project was approved in 2006.
The project was approved by DoNER at a cost of Rs 20.09 crore (90:10 basis) and the first installment of Rs 6.3 crore was released by the Centre three years later.
The State PWD (Building) is the implementing agency and this project is stuck for want of timely release of the balance amount.
But the DoNER secretary insisted that the Planning Department of the State Government has to furnish a detailed project report with a request for release of installments.
Pala in a separate letter to Chief Secretary K.S Kropha urged the Government to send the necessary report to the Centre.
Earlier, council members had also met DoNER officials on the issue in New Delhi.
