TURA: A fire that broke out during the early hours of Saturday destroyed a cluster of shops near the old cinema hall area of Williamnagar town. No one was injured in the incident.
The blaze reportedly occurred due to a short circuit in one of the shops located near a tri-junction that leads up to Samgong area of the town. It soon spread to the other shops sandwiched together completely destroying around four stores that contained grocery items.
It is alleged that the source of the outbreak was from an unregistered power connection at one of the shops which authorities are looking into. The blaze destroyed goods worth several thousand rupees in each of the shops.
Timely arrival of the fire tenders prevented the blaze from spreading further.
