SHILLONG: The school teacher of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Nongstoin, who allegedly molested several girls in the school is still on the run though its almost a month since the matter came into light. West Khasi Hills SP G.D.
Kharwalang said that they have sent a show cause notice but the accused is still absconding. “We are trying to catch the accused,” he added.
The police took a suo moto cognizance after the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) intervened into the shocking incident. Vishwajit Jha, who teaches PGT Physics at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Schoo, fled after the matter was filed.
Jha was terminated from service after he was found guilty of sexually harassing the students.
The students came forward to report the matter to the Executive Magistrates during routine inspection on March 23.
