SHILLONG: Is Chief Minister Mukul Sangma planning to contest from two seats in Garo Hills?
It was heard on the grapevine that besides Ampati, which is currently Sangma’s home constituency, the chief minister may contest from Songsak constituency in East Garo Hills. Songsak is currently represented by NPP’s Nihim D. Shira.
When contacted, Shira said there were rumours in this regard and added that he has no comments to make.
Last week, after a Cabinet meeting when a reporter asked the chief minister whether he was planning to contest from two seats, he had replied, “You will know when the election comes.”
The chief minister is currently in Belgium on a holiday.
