Lucknow: Controversy again hit the Mayawati government when a senior IPS officer D D Mishra levelled sensational allegations of corruption against his superiors. The Uttar Pradesh government today ordered a probe into the charges.

But at the same time, it declared Mishra a ‘person of unsound mind’.

”Each and every aspect of the allegations will be probed by Director General of Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO) Atul though no time limit has been given for submission of his report,” Kunwar Fateh Bahadur Singh, the principal secretary (home), UP, told a hurriedly-called news conference this afternoon.

Mishra, a 1992-batch Indian Police Service officer, promoted from the state police services, in a dramatic manner last evening , had created a scene in his office turning vocal against the department and the state government. He had even taken name of Mr Fateh Bahadur and a minister Daddu Prasad for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices and expressed threat to his life from the government. He was forcibly removed from the office and sent for treatment at psychiatry department of Medical University here on Friday night. Mr Singh said the preliminary medical examination by Prof Dalal of psychiatry department had revealed that the officer had been suffering from ‘bi-polar effective disorder’. (PTI)
