Workshop on traditional musical instruments

SHILLONG: Additional Deputy Commissioner of Amlarem Sub-Division, I. Laloo inaugurated a five-day workshop on crafting of traditional instruments and playing technique at Enowel Hall, Amlarem Sub-Division in West Jaintia Hills on Tuesday.
The workshop is being organised by the Department of Arts and Culture and it aims to impart essential knowledge to the young participants on the traditional Khasi instruments so that it is passed on from generation to generation.
The participants at the five-day workshop, comprising mostly of school students, will have the opportunity to learn the traditional Khasi instruments of Ksing (percussion instrument), Duitara (stringed instrument) and Tangmuri (wind instrument).
