SHILLONG: The HSPDP has hit out at Chief Minister Mukul Sangma accusing him of misleading the voters with his remark on the HSPDP-UDP truck as “backdoor alliance with BJP”.
In a statement to the press, the chairman of the media cell of the HSPDP, Londoner M. Sohtun, expressed surprise at Sangma’s remark.
“We have made it very clear from the beginning that we want a non-Congress government and a non-BJP government,” he said.
He referred to media reports on April 9 that there were talks about Sangma joining the BJP.
“The North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) has nothing to do with HSPDP-UDP alliance and the HSPDP is not an alliance of NEDA as alleged by Sangma,” Sohtun said and added that people should not be misled by the Congress’s wrong propaganda.
HSPDP’s attack comes a day after UDP chief Donkupar Roy said the Congress’s failures have fuelled the growth of BJP.
