NONGPOH: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said on Friday the government had tried its best to expedite the process of implementing entry and exit points, while justifying the need to set up railway in Ri Bhoi and East Khasi Hills.
Addressing a gathering on the concluding day of the silver jubilee celebrations of Ri Bhoi district, Sangma said that there are some legal procedures which are needed to be followed regarding the entry and exit points and the protesters should understand this. “The Government will do its best to tackle influx as everyone knows about its impact on the tribes of the State.”
A facilitation centre at the entry and exit points will also be set up at the place where the railway line is coming up to curb influx through roadways and railways, said Sangma who elaborated on the benefits that people in Garo Hills are reaping from the Mendipathar railway line.
