SHILLONG: The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills has asked the Jowai Muslim Committee to stop the construction of the building including toilets at Jowai as it was carried out without prior permission from MUDA.
The building was meant for prayers of the Muslim faithful.
Earlier, the Jaintia Youth Federation termed the project illegal and in violation of National Green Tribunal.
The Jaintia Youth Federation pointed out that the structure has been constructed 90m away from River Myntdu which is in violation of the order passed by the West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate.
On Thursday the district administration along with police had carried out spot inspection following which an order was issued to stop the construction.
