Special Force candidates deprived of certificates

SHILLONG: The Garo Hills State Movement Committee (GHSMC) has petitioned the Home Minister, HDR Lyngdoh, through the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner alleging that many commandos of the Special Force (SF-10) have not been given a passing out parade certificates for the last 23 months.
The chairman of the committee, Nikman Ch. Marak said that during the process of recruitment, the six months and specialised commando training for SF 10, was to be imparted outside the State.
However, the recruit candidates were divided into two groups from the same batch, where one of the groups was sent to Garo Hills for operation Hills storm for 8 months, while the remaining recruits continued their commandos training and got passing out parade (POP) certificates.
While, many others have not received their POP certificates.  
“Consequently those recruits who have given POP are enjoying special allowances, but the other one is being deprived of such special allowances,” he said.
The Committee has urged the Government to look into the events amounts to constitutional discrimination and violation of the equality clauses entrained in the constitution of India in Article 14 and 16.
The Committee has also asked the Government to examine the matter and initiate appropriate measures to ensure justice to the other group.
