SHILLONG: The Khasi Jaintia Butcher’s Welfare Association (KJBWA) in a meeting held at Mawlai Phudmuri on Monday lamented the “step-motherly” treatment meted out to it by the State Government.
In a statement issued here, publicity secretary of the association Wankerlang Lamare said traders will be allowed to sell beef as per their expenditure and the KJBWA will not interfere in the pricing. “It all depends on the traders whether they want to sell it at Rs 280 or more,” the statement said.
He reiterated that the organisation has from time to time intimated the government about the problems faced by it but to no avail.
