Nokmas, Quarry stakeholders workshop held

TURA: A workshop for Nokmas, who are the custodians of the tribal land of the Garos,  and Stone Quarry stakeholders was held on Friday at Tura with a view to discuss the issue of environmental degradation, community plantations, nurseries, stone quarries and awareness about Meghalaya Land Transfer Act 1972 and Meghalaya Minor Mineral Concession Rules,  2016. West Garo Hills DC Pravin  Bakshi asked owners to operatetheir quarries legally by obtaining valid license with due payment of fees and royalty to the government.
