Four held for molesting minors in Ri Bhoi village

NONGPOH: Four men have been arrested for allegedly molesting four minors, including a seven-year-old boy, in a village near Nongpoh town.
Nongpoh police said the accused – Bron Prang (45), Sbishon Songthiang (36), Mawri Ksing and his son Sahit Khongngain – were drunk when they sexually harassed the children at their residence at Pahamriniai village on June 28.
The men have been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act and sent to 14-day judicial custody.
The four children aged 14, 11, four and a seven-year-old boy were molested in their house when the mother was away, a complaint lodged by the woman said.
The complaint stated the men came to the house with her husband around 3pm on June 28.
She said after few hours, when her husband got drunk and fell asleep, the men molested the children. When the woman reached home around 8 pm, the elder daughter told her about the incident. She informed the village authority and lodged a complaint at Nongpoh police station the next day.
The woman works in a shop.
The minors were taken to Nongpoh civil hospital for medical check-up and results showed they were molested.
The Child Welfare Department has been informed, said the police.
