NONGPOH: The Ri Bhoi district police have sought citizens’ help in eradicating the menace of drug abuse.
The police organised an awareness programme at the MUDA Urban Shopping Complex here on Saturday.
DC C.P Gotmare, Nongpoh town chairman C.B Syiem and locals attended the programme that focused on drug addiction and crime against children.
Reiterating the necessity of the public’s co-operation, Gotmare said, “Seminars and awareness programmes are the best way to spread the message among locals about the ill-effects of drugs and alcohol which have deformed the society.”
He added that neither police nor the administration can fight crime or drug menace without the locals’ help.
District police chief Ramesh Singh assured assistance to the public to maintain law and order in the district.
