Child rights panel chief examined in minor’s rape case

SHILLONG: The chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Meena Kharkongor was examined before the POCSO Court here on Tuesday in connection with the pending case related to the rape of minor by several persons including Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang.
SCPCR Chairperson, Meena Kharkongor was the complainant and many persons, including Dorphang, have been arrested in this case, based on the FIRs filed by Kharkongor.
Dorphang was also brought before the POCSO Court during the trial.
Two cases have been registered against the lawmaker, who is a former chairman and co-founder of the militant outfit, HNLC, for his alleged involvement in the rape.
